STD’s

With a new year starting soon, I am sure we are all worn out from the fudge and festivities that got us through the holidays.  But just in case you have recovered quickly and are in need of some entertainment, here are a few fun things around town that caught my eye.  As a reminder since it’s been a few months STD = Save The Date.

At The Meadow there is a class on Chilling & Grilling on Himalayan Salt Blocks Thursday January 19, 2012 6:30pm-8:00pm. $35  I’ve taken this class before and it is super yummy.

In addition to all of Kristin’s regular Take it Outside exercise classes she is doing Crafty night every other Thursday (Jan 12 & 26) at super cute Rain or Shine coffee house.  Crafty night is free.  Just come hang out, have a tea or wine and work on whatever you want.  Folks have brought knitting or crocheting, and I’ve taken my laptop.  Any of Kristin’s regular classes (drop in fee or she has a super deal right now) are a great way to start the year off on the right foot.

Water Avenue coffee will ruin you for everything else.  I said that last week and got myself in a little bit of trouble because I said it (clearly unwittingly) to another local coffee roaster.  Living in the land of food and drink that we do in P-town, you can’t throw a rock without hitting a coffee roaster.  I digress.  While Water Ave truly has THE BEST coffee in town, they started as a barista school.  They offer classes for the home roaster all the way to how to run a successful coffee shop.  Prices vary depending on your interest.

The Museum of Contemporary Craft has some neat exhibits going on.  Admission is $4 and free the first Thursday of each month, so you have no excuse not to check them out.

I’ve mentioned OMSI After Dark before.  January 25th 6-10pm is Nerds & Curds (wine and cheese night).  I can’t wait for this one! $12 for non-members,  $6 for OMSI members

A few more Fix-It Fairs.  Always free and you ALWAYS learn something! Saturday Jan 21 and Feb 25th

The Rebuilding Center offers all sorts of classes but they fill up fast, so just for future use check them out.  I’d love to take the intro to carpentry for women.  Like I really need to learn one more thing that I don’t have time for!

Have a Happy New Year- now get out there and have some fun!
