Let There be Light!

This year Thanksgiving fell during Hanukkah.  I celebrated with friends playing dreidel and assembling lego’s.

I love lighting the menorah each night and I always have to take some pictures.  For this week’s photo challenge of Let There be Light!, I didn’t have to look to far to find something to post.

I have one of my sister’s paintings on my mantle.  A couple years ago I put the menorah in front of the painting and was delighted with the result.  I was not expecting the reflection or the delicate circle of light.

This next picture is of this year’s candle lighting.  Myself and the six year old who made the lovely menorah both thought these looked like a line of toilets, while they are really supposed to be oil lamps.  I think I may have even said something to the effect of “Let’s get this potty started” when it was time to light the candles.  Please feel free to inset any other toilet pun you feeling coming on in the comment section below.

I hope you and your families have had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a Happy Hanukkah or better known as Thanksgivikkah. 😉

  1. I guess Hanukkah didn’t fall in the middle of Thanksgiving this year! Hope yours was as happy as mine was.

    1. Thanksgiving was on the second night. I’m thankful it doesn’t fall during Passover otherwise I wouldn’t be able to eat stuffing and pumpkin pie!

  2. Those candle holders are cute, but they do look like miniature toilets!
Loved your first picture of candles throwing a semi-circle around your sister’s painting – as if to highlight and honor it.
