One of my fabulous new girlfriends keeps asking me what I want to do for my birthday. I genuinely have no idea how I want to celebrate the next year of my life.
I’m not going to get all reflective here, but looking back I am noticing a pattern. I am seeing that life tends to be busiest, when it is busiest. Not only are the holidays stacked on top of each other in November and December, but there was all sorts of life that still has to go on. Things that are more important than buying gifts for some ungrateful child, or spending all week baking for someone who isn’t going to savor the wonderful meal you poured your heart into.
I had a lovely quiet new year’s eve dinner with a friend who said her word for 2016 is to be more authentic. I like that. Savor the truth, savor the things that truly bring you joy and peace; if it isn’t quality, why bother. I do find a sinister pleasure in pushing an occasional button or stirring the pot. But overall, I am finding that I truly enjoy the simple things.
Sitting on my patio savoring my coffee, listening to the birds and the sounds of dogs barking.
A well written, really good book.
A new cocktail.
The lines of light across a cat in the window.
I got a great book for Christmakkah that I will be sharing and referencing all year long.
The Year of Drinking Adventurously. 52 Ways to get out of your comfort zone.
So, if anyone else has this book, I challenge you to play along. Let’s savor our way through this new year and indulge our spirits in a little fun! I will be kicking off my 52 week challenge on Tuesday January 5th. Please drink along, and ping back, so we can follow your journey as well.
Cheers!
Did you know Jeff blogs here on WP? I tried to win that book in one of his giveaways! We are so doing this! Yay!
