48 in Nashville

48 hours that is.

This post is pic heavy, so I’m going to (try to) keep the words to a minimum. It’ll be tough because I had so much fun and want to gush and gush.

What a weekend! I’m in love, love, love… With Nashville!!

Brother Normal and Mrs Normal go to music shows all the time. Now that I’m in Memphis, I’m making a concerted effort to go to more shows and they are making all sorts of recommendations. Not one has been a fail!

My fabulous weekend began in Memphis Thursday night. I saw Keller Williams at Lafayette Music Room. Laid back and engaging.

Friday I was off to Nashville to meet friends at the Opryland Hotel. Friday night we saw the Grand Ole Opry radio show. Such fun! The only names we knew were Riders in the Sky and the band that did the music for O Brother, Where Art Thou. A great show even if you aren’t a fan of country music.

Brother Normal had given me a list of places to eat and almost by accident we found ourselves at Noshville. Best matzah ball soup ever. So good, I had to go back the next day for breakfast!

We toured the Rhyman Auditorium and stopped by the art museum. Saturday night I went to Aspire Amphitheater to see Steve Earle and Loretta Lynn. Great venue and an unforgettable show.

Before I hit the road home on Sunday, I toured Hatch Show Print, wandered around downtown Broadway, and stocked up at Trader Joe’s. It’s been a year since I had been in a TJ’s. Never before have I felt so happy just walking into a grocery store.

I had a hard time loading myself back into the car. A city with good food, music, all sorts of cultures and ethnicities mingling, and public art is a winner in my book!
