Since it is Friday after a long week of snow, slush, rain and mud I thought I would end the week with a cocktail to warm the cockles. I have a friend who presses fresh pear and apple cider every year. There are few things tastier than fresh pressed cider. I spruced it up with a little wink-wink, nudge nudge to get the blood flowing.
Ginger Bourbon Pear Punch
1/2 gallon fresh pressed pear (or apple if that’s what you’ve got) cider
zest of 1 orange
1/2 of a 1-liter bottle club soda (I eye- balled it)
2 cups bourbon (I like Bulleit)
1 cup New Deal Ginger Liqueur
Float a few slices of pear on top or garnish your glass with a pear or ginger slice.
I served this at room temperature since my house is kinda cool, but you could also warm. If you were to do this warm, I’d warm the cider and the orange zest on medium heat for about 20 minutes, then add your alcohol. That will help the oils release from the zest.
Cheers to Friday!
I’ll be there in five to join you!
