Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

Yes, I know it’s now Monday, Monday, Monday, but yesterday was such a good day it will fuel me through the week.

One of the things my friends and I have come to enjoy are the brunches and dinners I regularly host.  Mostly potluck.  There are no “rules” or set menus.  Just make whatever has been on your list to try or something you’ve had a hankering for.  I usually tell folks what I’m making, but not always.  There have only been a couple of times we ended up with some lopsided meal that is all meat or all bread.  Most of the time the collection of dishes are divine.

In the last year I fell out of having my community dinners.  Not because I didn’t want to host, but because life got in the way.  Small dinners with the inner circle were more frequent.

My schedule this year is working out to be a little better than last and so yesterday I hosted the first brunch of 2012.  I can safely say it was a rousing success.  I have so missed the houseful of people (26 this time) and the incredible spread of surprise dishes.

It’s always amazing how everyone brings their “A” game to these things.  I am not kidding when I say that every dish was so tasty.  There was a cheesecake that was decadent, silky, melt-in-your mouth amazing.  Kristin made a jicama salad with ginger dressing (and she was nice enough to post her recipe here).  A delicate frittata, salmon cakes, waffles with ham on top, sinful hash browns, cheesy grits and french toast casserole were just a few of the stars that made this brunch shine.

What did I make you ask?  Oh, well, I’ll share that another day this week (unless you’ve found the spoiler).  In the mean time, I wish you happy Monday and a glorious week.  And a special Thanks to all the lovely friends who made Sunday, Sunday, Sunday so great!

shhhh… little side note for the locals.  If you want to get on the list for future community dinners, drop me a line and I’ll keep your in the loop.  Don’t tell the folks far away, I don’t want to hurt any feelings.
