Flangiprop Friday

This has been a short week for some of us. In case you missed it, Monday was Columbus Day. Short weeks almost feel longer than a regular five day work week.

There has been some resistance to the happiness project at work. I do not understand why these folks would rather grump and be miserable than be happy to see another day. We spend so much time at work. We have work wives, we personalize our desks, and you get to know things about those around you whether you want to or not. One of the things I’ve been encouraging within my group is treat Tuesday and a couple of my coworkers have embraced this.

This week, one of the gals brought her in fancy coffee maker and I baked cinnamon rolls. There is an empty desk between us we are using as our snack cube. She is graciously leaving her special machine in the office so we can have lattes and mochas whenever our sleepy hearts desire.

Right now I am flangipropping my caramel latte while I ponder the day. If I can flangiprop a latte every morning when I come to work, it’ll certainly make the day better. And to celebrate the end of this day, be assured I will flangiprop a cocktail when I get home.

Flangiprop your glorious weekends.

This is in response to the daily prompt and I thought it paired well with my rant about words. In case you haven’t figured it out, my definition of frangiprop is: to savor, enjoy, or to taste with pleasure.

This was a funny text I got this week that fits perfectly.  I love my friends.

I love tattoos. I wish I had more… Sorta

I have one and it is the world tiniest tattoo. Most people think it’s a smudge and I was able to keep it hidden from my mother for a while under a round circle Band-Aid.

I got it in college from a guy named Buzzard. For years I’ve known what my next one would be, but my aversion to pain has kept me from doing it. Now I absolutely know what my next two will be, but I told my mother I would wait till she was dead before I get another one. That could be another 20 years. What was I thinking?!  After all I’ve dealt with in the last year with my shoulder, my pain tolerance has changed.

Jewish law states that if you are tattooed you cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery. They’ve loosened this a bit after the Holocaust with survivors tattooed with their numbers.  But in the last 20 or so years tattoos have become an expression of our individuality, our faith and our personal billboard for beliefs. There was a great article in Reform Judaism magazine about two years ago. My mother’s favorite rabbi was one of the feature stories. While he is her favorite, it did not change her mind on the matter.

This past weekend, was the First Annual International Rockabilly Music Festival here in Memphis. I went not only to hear great music, especially Hillbilly Casino, but to meet some cute tattooed fella. I’ll tell you, I think there’s nothing sexier than a guy who looks like a boring banker on the outside, and under his Oxford, is a tattooed rockabilly. While the turnout for this event was just short of abysmal, the music was great. Fellas were in short supply, but I had fun with my friends. Best of all, Hillbilly Casino was worth hanging out in the sun for.

What do you think my mother would say if I brought this cutie home? I’d be delighted,  but his wife probably has other ideas 😄

One of these days, I’ll find my own tattooed fella.  Until then, I just keep an eye out, an ear open and enjoy the show.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Intricate

intricate, macro, patterns, photos, wordpress weekly photo challenge

I have had quite a week.  I saw Bob Dylan, had babies, found a new favorite watering hole, and got a bottle tree.  While I’ve still not entirely recovered from all this excitement, I knew exactly what photo I would post for this week’s challenge.

It’s always interesting when you go back through all your pictures and find patterns you didn’t entirely realize were there.  I know I like miniatures and macro, but I am finding that I also like intricate patterns where there seem to be done.

This bucket of crayons from a craft store was the picture I knew I was going to post.

I always like the sight of a freshly filled jar of new Qtips. One of life’s little pleasures.

A perfectly aligned store display; rows neat and bright colors are always… SQUIRREL.

This is one of my favorite pictures. Beautiful and fresh, delicate and intricate.

Hope your Saturday is as beautiful as mine is making out to be.
